WNGC drops Nascar

WNGC has apparently decided not to carry Nascar this year,I turned it on Sunday after I got out of church and I heard music instead of MRN's pre race coverage. I think 92.5 the bear has dropped Nascar too, although a friend of mine said he heard the race on there Monday night. If that's true the only station that I can pick up that has Nascar is WMOQ 92.3 in Monroe, but I can't pick them up in my house.

It is hard to believe no true Atlanta station is carrying NASCAR. In NE GA, the best signal I was getting was at 92.5 WESC out of SC. I did faintly pick it up on 92.3 out of Monroe.

NASCAR is a hard sell with the Fox and ESPN / ABC TV deal. Why listen to radio when I can "see" the wrecks. Local high school sports is "easy" to sell. Braves Radio Baseball might get a "bump" with the Dish / Peachtree TV disagreement.

Not everyone is in front of the TV when these events are on. Some of us have to work and like listening on the radio.

In Conyers 92.3 in Monroe comes in good until you get into the south end of town, their signal cuts out around Heritage high School. It's hard to sell ascar in Atlanta now with the demise of the spring race at Atlanta Motor speedway. I remember Project 96.1 carried after the demise of The legend. I get seeing it on tv but when you are driving what if you still want to keep up with the action.

I agree,Captin Herb said on his Nascar show that he prefers listening to the MRN/PRN coverage because they do a better job. The deal with Fox is that they think Kyle Busch is the greatest thing to ever hit Nascar.

92.5 The Bear has NOT quit carrying NASCAR. As a matter of fact, the NASCAR coverage in 2012 has actually increased. On top of carrying all of the Sprint Cup races, the station is also going to carry 20-25 Nationwide and Truck races in 2012, too.

I'm not a race fan nor a tech junkie who must have everything that flies out the chute, but I think the standard buzz phrase for you is: "There's an app for that."

Thanks sweet dick, that's good that 92.5 the Bear still has Nascar, last Sunday I didn't hear the MRN pre race coverage.
