WNHT "Wild" in F-Wayne in shambles!

One Summit Radio Station employee won't be making the Whammy Awards tonight at Piere's.

Dave B. Goode Exits WYLT & WNHT
SUMMIT RADIO GROUP and Hot AC WYLT & Top 40/Rhythmic WNHT/FT. WAYNE PD DAVE B. GOODE are parting company. Reach him at (517) 944-1017, or [email protected].

The hunt is on for a replacement. Send CD&Rs to Dir./Programming BILL STEWART, 2000 Lower Huntington Rd., FT. WAYNE, IN 46819.

First WNHT goes from all hip-hop & taking on WJFX "Hot". Last book they didn't do so well. JFX crushed em'.

Now NHT is playing Kelly Clarkson, Nickelback, Fall Out Boy, and a few others mixed in with hip-hop. Are they trying to compete with their own sister station WYLT? With the brains over there, it wouldn't surprise most.

Attention Summit Jocks........RUN! RUN NOW WHILE YOU HAVE THE CHANCE! Maybe the other stations are hiring? It couldn't hurt to try! Summit has the bird flu. It's spreading like "Wild Fire" within the company & is about to go nite-nite forever.

Looking at your history of posts - you sure seem slanted against Summit. Sounds like bitterness of some type. Life is too short to be this nasty against people. Perhaps a hobby would be helpful for you.

I was actually pretty close to giving my 96.3 preset to a different station when they started playing Green Day and Fall Out Boy. It seems really dumb to play the same songs as their sister station My 103.9. The only thing that saved the station for me was the Wild Pod. I knew 96.3 had a huge library by listening to their Wild Workout and their 5:00 program, and especially by their holiday weekend programming. The Wild Pod really brings out some of the music they don't regularly play instead of hearing Mary-I-Wanna 17 times a day.

Either way, i'm listening to 96.3 every day like it's the last day they're on the air. It doesn't sound too good for them. <P ID="signature">______________

Hey what ever happened to Capt Tragedy? He has become suspiciously quiet.

Maybe there was another Tragedy... ha ha

Maybe he's actually doing his job now...

Summit City Director of Sales Dave Wisniewski has also departed.
His "Advantage Plan" of $5 ads proved to be more of a disadvantage.

Man @ Large is now interim PD of My and Mojo is handling Wild for now.
Wasn't Mojo just suspended recently for breaking the studio window?

These stations are a confirmed sales and programming failure!

My guess is that all the Summit City stations are for sale and they now want to get the expenses down. I wonder how many of the jocks are trying to get out and go to HOT or if they all burned themselves talking tough before the book? Egos can be a dangerous thing. It seems like just yesterday when Capt Tragedy and the other jocks were making fun of the PD and jocks at HOT. Oh well.
>

What makes me laugh about this argument is that I know that the amount of stations for sale in Fort Wayne is actually greater than the amount not for sale (think two total and not two groups). I would look for two major deals in the next six months and some major adjustments to the stations in each of the clusters. Prediction - WJFX bought by Summit and Summit sells off their three lesser move-ins to another group. Finally, Federated sold to either Clear Channel or Citadel (note the people touring the facilities in the last couple of weeks)... Bottom line is the market will be completely different by Christmas.

I agree that the landscape will change, but I don't think that it will be the way you describe. If Summit can't operate the stations that they own which DON'T have a signal issue (i.e. 103 and 96) why would they think that they can operate 107? I say they've lost too much money and are throwing in the towel. Funny thing is, who is going to buy them? They have 4 lame signals (including WGL) and no format positions in the market. I'd be surprised if Federated sold, but it's not impossible. Cumulus is a better prospect than Clear Channel to buy Federated. Ft. Wayne fits their company profile of small and middle markets better. Nobody has mentioned Artistic. Those guys have to be dying. I guarantee that somebody, if not multiple companies are throwing the towel in.

Artistic in shambles too!

I guess so.

Managers for Artistic have reportedly been seen during the business day working for a local Quizno's. Making subs and wiping tables. Not kidding.

I once worked at Summit. Trust me, I'm a nasty towards them for a reason! I'm greatful for the experience because it showed me what kind of stations you don't want to work for. Now that I'm out of the state & on to bigger things (including market size) I can say that.
I noticed that people (mostly jocks) who work there have huge attitudes. They make people feel awkward & act like they have ratings parties each time the book comes out. (Which we all know they don't) Not all, but some of the jocks are rude to listeners as well. They hang up on callers, call them names, & pretty much just look down on them in general. From what I understand, they still act that way. It's karma & they are getting theirs now. Not any of the stations are worth a damn & the one (96.3) has a great signal! The alterative there just got a 1.0 & how long has that format not worked for that cluster? 8-10 yrs? Hey Summit, here's a clue: Nirvana isn't coming back! How can it bill with a 1.0? How can you pay jocks? Some jocks have been there for a long long time now & the results aren't showing. They are for other stations though. K105, Oldies (even though it looks like they had a really bad book) Hot 107.9, The bear, they all keep on doing their thing & some of those jocks have been there for awhile.
Summit has to sell commercials in bulk (to air on all the stations)and for $5 a spot! $5! Do they give the clients free candy bars along with them too? They sell 4 remotes for $1,200 when competitors are selling one at that price.
Annually they have to be losing 1-2 million a year. You can do the math. It's not hard to add everything up. They are asking (from what i understand) about 10 million more than what the stations are worth & believe me, they aren't shy to talk & to tell everyone "We are looking for buyers." If they weren't, then why would I know about it? I don't even live in the fort anymore! THANK GOD! People are talking! Their best signal is NHT & they are so bad that Piere's (the biggest fort wayne club) won't even allow an actual jock from "Wild" to host it's bikini nite. Are you kidden me? What a "Wild Concept"! Let's put another jock on stage who isn't even on air for us to host our own contest in front of all-agh, ok 100 of our 3,000 total listeners (1/5 of Hot's-their big competitor). That's like asking John Stockton to get up and speak for The LA Clippers. They use another jock in the cluster. (Note Joel Hoffman in their pictures on stage at their website (http://wild963.com/galleries.php?gallery_id=41) That tell you anything? Ever think K105 would do that? Ever think the bear would say to KJ from K105, "Hey KJ, can you do a remote for us tonight?" Summit is a joke & not far behind is AMP. Hell AMP might give people a bigger laugh.

So yeah, I was fired from Summit & I'm a better person because of it now & I have a better job! I'm still bitter (I'll admit that & show you that) but I love it when i check the ratings in that town & see them struggling. That is my hobby. Who needs golf when you can watch a business crumble? Everyone that works there now should be very concerned about a job. The bird flu I see just affected it's first mammals. 3 Cats in AUS have it & soon so will 2000 Lower Huntington Rd.
