WNIS, Early 1980s

I spent little better than a year in the area, listened primarily to news/talk WNIS out of Norfolk. I really enjoyed their midday host, an Aussie who was into household "hacks" long before they became a thing. What impressed about the guy was how he could effortlessly and effectively move between calls about a new Russian submarine to a suitable substitute for allspice in a sausage recipe.

Does anyone remember his name and what became of him? He wasn't on the air there when I visited the area in the mid 90s.

Chuck Faulkner. The only photo I have of him was taken to show off the console - sorry. He was a character. He had a (somewhat controversial) career as an actor in Australia before coming to the States - you can Google that. I don't recall the details of his departure - he later worked at WGAI in Elizabeth City, NC.

Very cool, thanks. Somewhere I have newsletters he sent out in the early 80s containing recipes and household tip/hacks. The first meal I fixed my wife of nearly 40 years was chicken tetrazzini from one of his recipes. He also had a three ingredient biscuit recipe I used for that meal. Good memories.

Thanks again.
