WNJB/58 New Brunswick, NJ move to Empire State Building??

Does anyone know if New Jersey Network's (NJN) WNJB/58 (digital allocation channel8), licensed to New Brunswick, NJ, will be moving from Warren Township, NJ to the Empire State Building? NJN had petitioned the FCC in 2007 to move WNJB to Empire.

If the station does move to the ESB, does anyone think that NJN will try to sell it off to generate some $$$? I believe that Channel 58 has a commerical allocation, inasmuch as it is the ancestor of commercial WRTV/58 which operated in Eatontown, NJ in the late 1950s. That station was almost resurrected in the late 1960s, but never it made it back to the air. Around 1970, the state of NJ bought it, and changed the allocation to New Brunswick, with a translator WNJB-1, channel 58 operating in Long Branch, NJ in the late 1980s and early 90s.

They tried to makes a move to 4 Times Square. It has not gotten all that far.

WABC-TV has raised an objection based on their proximity on Channel 7.

NJN is cash strapped right now. I'm not sure how aggressively they are pursuing this, and I am not really sure how much practical sense it makes to move WNJB. What would they achieve by moving? You have WNJN in Montclair already. Does NJN want to sell it? It's non-commercial. Who would want to buy it?

I think that's the loophole. When Channel 58 was allocated to Eatontown, NJ, and on the air as WRTV it had a commerical allocation. I wonder if NJN will try and petition the FCC to change the allocation back to "commerical" and then sell it as a commerical station. This has been tried before- Pittsburgh (WQEX), Albany (WCWN)and Buffalo (WNLO)

It wouldn't make sense to put WNJB on the empire state building as an NJN station when WNJN in Montclair is only 10 miles away. The majority of the signal would overlap. I could only see it making sense if the station was to be used for another purpose, like a different network.

It is not moving. FCC filings confirm this.

And it was never to Empire. The move was planned for 4 Times Square.

Cost of rent? In WNJB's case, they're already in the #1 market from a tower site they either own or which is otherwise MUCH cheaper to pay rent on than 4TS.
