I'm sure Mike Venditti had the station sounding great. He built out a station I managed in Houston before getting cancer and passing. He could visualize all this stuff in his head. He was a rare breed in this business. If I have anything negative to say of Mike's genius is what he put in place frequently needed tinkering quite frequently to keep it that way. It was as if he could get it just right but never shored it up to remain just right because a few minutes here or there did the trick. When you had to fly him in, well, it was usually a mess by time he came back.

WNJC 1360 Update

Im making reference to WNJC.. its been a heap since.. well.. been awhile that its been a steaming heap.
Actually I stepped out of the other thread to avoid a fight and I never invited you to this one. Seems like you like to project a lot with all the talk about picking fights and mental issues though.
I don't recall that I ever said anything about being "pro" (or con) brokered. I get it's the avenue that's needed sometimes. But that's more business reality than any feelings.
Quick update since I was watching to see what would happen. WNJC finally submitted its application for renewal today, along with a request for a waiver to permit late filing. It included letters apologizing for failing to update its public file, failing to update its ownership report, and responding to a notice of violation from 2014. Application is now pending.
This is an open forum; nobody needs to be invited to participate in a particular topic.
This is a good time to invite those members to "jump in" when they have something to add to a topic. You don't have to be employed in radio to have an opinion.

they were great in the late 80s early 90s, when Gus (the owl) Crawley was in charge and the format was Classic (56-76) Country, heck even Bob Charger was there for awile, going under the name Country Bob. I was told by Gus, that they illegally used the one tall strobe tower only, running 1kw omni, the two smaller and one larger towers were not hot. I caught them as far north as the Oxford Valley mall area at that time during the day, which would be impossible with the FCCs directional pattern they are authorized.
Gus Cawley changed the call letters to WNJC when the country format started to stand for ‘New Jersey Country’. It could be picked up in eastern Montgomery county during the day. As I remember it was a mix of classics & current country but never distinguished itself enough to get country listeners to switch from WXTU. By comparison, WCZN 1590 ‘Your Country Cousin’ had better imaging and played more country classics serving part of the same area.
WCZN was a great station for Country Classics, I believe the morning guy Ian something or other started it left, then Sal April was PD and on air jock, he was pretty good.
