First, Audio 18 is NOT a brokered Internet station. It doesn't broadcast fulltime and most of its content (if not all) is not "pay for play." It was suggested that RadioFan2007 go to Audio 18 because it had been offered as a "possibility" for him to buy limited time for dollars to learn and develop. As George Brusstar said today on his site ... RadioFan2007 never approached them for the opportunity and the invitation was not extended. If it had been ... Audio 18 is not a "Brokered Station" but, in answer to your question, "yes" Mike would have, again, brokered his time ... and I blame no one for taking the money. He would have a hard job getting a gig as a board op, let alone a "personality," wouldn't you agree? I've heard of "national" pay-for-play Internet radio ... just never local pay-for-play brokered Internet radio ... especially that offered by a commercial radio station.
Mike is flitting from place to place looking for a place to land, it looks like, but no one, at this point, if sure of his real willingness, reliability, dependability or ability ... for that matter. Better this way with him having to put his money where his mouth is than just "give" him the airtime.
The other reason for suggesting Audio 18 is that at least there, an audience already exists for "the little Internet radio station," and those involved are already familiar with RadioStar2007 ... and he'll need their help and guidance. Whether jumping on "the next new thing" to come down the pike to brag about in new territory, especially for him, is something that I think is chancy, at best ... and totally unknown. Audio 18 has been doing this for sometime. The "next great idea" is something so new that he jumped right on it ... and that surprises me. I will be very curious as to his longevity and effort put into this new idea ... and his seriousness.
I still think that if the opportunity afforded itself and that Audio 18 wanted the money ... he should go there. (Plus, there are no fans of HD Radio over there...)
The other and final factor is that while I think Mr. Brusstar would like and welcome the money from a "professional" or a broadcaster with promise ... the difficulties RadioFan2007 has had both posting manic things here, undependable assumptions of making things happen and a general lack of direction for someone who wants to "play" radio don't fit Mr. Brusstar's liking with this particular case. I think that, ethically, and for his station's own reputation ... he'd rather take a pass on this particular "brokerism."
I do think it will be different with someone better proven ... and could be different with a sincere communication, a written contract and money ... up front.
