According to the release Edgardo del Villar died from brain cancer complications.
Edgardo del Villar, news anchor at Telemundo’s WNJU New York, died Dec. 13 following a two-year bout with brain cancer. He was 51 years old.
Del Villar joined WNJU in 2017 after serving as a correspondent and a fill-in anchor for Telemundo network programs Un Nuevo Día and Noticias Telemundo in Miami.
A native of Mexico, Del Villar had a large following in the Mexican community through more than 20 years in journalistic roles in Mexico and the United States. He regularly anchored the 6 and 11 p.m. editions of Noticiero 47 Telemundo with co-anchor Darling Burdiez until this past August, when he departed to focus on his fight with cancer.
