I just found out about the format change today. I no longer live there, and I’ve been remote work for about 2 1/2 years from my office in Cincinnati. I streamed from their website since unlike WNKR they have no TunedIn stream. The first song I heard was Higher Love by Steve Winwood. So, I think it’s going to show promise. Then, they play a whole bunch of light 70s, possibly even 60s, stuff that nobody wants to listen to. In fact, the station sounds borderline nostalgia.
To me, they will find better luck in Dayton with this format because The Eagle already has the 80s music covered plus the signal covers Dayton much better. I’ve always noticed growing up that 105.9 had trouble making it into the valley along the river and at lower elevations in northern Kentucky. Notwithstanding the bad reception, if they manage to stay away from the regional favorites played by Cincinnati stations back in the 80s that WGRR has now latched onto, this could be an enjoyable station to listen to.
