WNMB silenced by lightning.

In spite of good grounding and good engineering practices, sometimes Mother Nature will have her way. This past Monday evening lightning struck both the WNMB studios in North Myrtle Beach and the station's transmitter site at the Barefoot Resort. The studio strike turned a Scott Studios computer to blackened audio cards, taking it out of service. The transmitter strike virtually destroyed our Harris transmitter. We have ordered new units for both locations and hope to be back on the air by Monday or Tuesday. In the meantime, we are still streaming.
Total damages came to about $30k....not as bad as it could have been. Insurance is likely to cover some of the damage.

Bill, really sorry to hear about your station. I've always considered yours the model AM station to "crib" from. It's got a great sound, great energy and a wonderful community spirit.

Hope you're back on line ASAP.

Hey Bill, sorry as hell to hear about the lightning strike. And right at the beginning of summer just before July 4th, too. Damn.
