Mark:
First to answer your question: WNMR FM is currently off the air and in the middle of transfer of ownership. No word on what format it will be.
I Like the way you think! I agree with you, though a goof (And a subtle commentary on the state of radio) I couldn't agree more! This would make a wonderful format---It's the "Jack" format on steroids (OK magic mushrooms). But it does approximate the playlists of most people that I know. My theory is that years of Napster, Lime Wire and even 99 cent songs on iTunes have helped broaden the taste of most, or at least many music consumers. I know that my playlist runs the gamut from Robert Plant to Robert Goulet.
As a consultant and the "format change expert" If you ever run into a client that has the stones... I would be thrilled to collaborate with you on "The Last Format".
Some say that radio "is irrelevant". Well I for one strongly disagree. Radio is as relevant and the people running it care to make it; producing results commensurate to the care, creativity and effort put into it. The shared experience of broadcast (No matter the technology of the delivery system) is what has created modern culture and will always have a place for that reason... But what do I know?
Oh and BTW now that I have recently joined America's intrepid "freelance work force". I would be remiss if I didn't end with the 2 following links.
