WNMT NASHWAUK (HIBBING), MN - New logging

I'm not much for broadcasting my success stories, but I finally heard another NA station other than WSM on 650.

Just listened to and verified WNMT in Nashwauk MN, on 650 KHZ via the sunset-skip and during our mini snowstorm. 10KW days ND / 1KW nights directional.

Listened to a bit of the Craig & Kate show which was pretty funny, and seems to a locally produced to boot.

Heard here too back in November during sunset skip. I also caught CKOM Saskatoon one morning in the car on the way to work. These are the only two I've been able to hear on 650 besides WSM.

Super job!

Now, if WSM has maintenance, try 650 for Colombia. People have got it before!

Crainbebo,

WSM really puts in a strong signal here in Cincinnati.

I really haven't concentrated on 650, but I'll focus on the Columbia catch, although the SA stations tend to come in better during the high sunspot cycles. I can null WSM some.

Cincinnati is not the best location for DXing being in the midwest and surrounded by 50KW heritage stations. 690 700 710 are all WLW, and 1520 1530 are all WCKY. I can't get the 555 KHZ Carribean split becase of WKRC. West and SW is bothered by the NYC & other 50KW eastern stations, whil North, NW and SE has Chicago Minneapolis & Detroit most always present. I could go on. Woe is me.

I do have a trip to Houston scheduled in Feb. That should kick things up a bit.

Have hard WNMT several times. Has anyone heard KGAB 650 Orchard Valley (Cheyenne), WY? I heard them last winter before their local sunset.
By the way, I picked up WRCG 1420 Columbus, GA last night, around 8:20 p.m. I kinda doubt it was the 79 watts they're supposed to be on at night. They were really "destroying" WHKW, WOC and WIMS (;

The only NA 650 I heard other than WSM was KMTI in Manti, UT; I was in southwest central OR at that time in the evening Pacific Time.

I've heard the following stations on 650 here in Bothell, WA.

CISL Vancouver, BC (Adult Standards)
KSTE Rancho Cordova, CA (News/Talk)
KMTI Manti, UT (Country, only logged once)
KGAB Cheyenne, WY (News/Talk, logged once)

WSM has a backup antenna. I won't say they're never off the air, but I've never heard them off in my 20 years here.

If you're a few hundred miles out, you may catch them on the backup with a somewhat reduced signal. But ISTR they painted the tower just a few years ago so I wouldn't expect that to happen again for awhile....
