WNNG Warner Robins

With ABC Radio's "Memories", or "Unforgettable Favorites" format soon to shut down, what format will land on WNNG-1350 Warner Robins?

Why are they shutting down that format? Oh, yeah...because they play the same 50 songs over and over. Standards can be a decent format, but the ABC flavor never really did much for me. I think WMXF-AM in Waynesville, NC also runs it too these days.

I'd say stations like WNNG will probably switch to Jones, who I belive also has a Standards format. That, or go Oldies, or even Light AC. I don't think it'll matter much.

Dump the satelitte and go live or just run the music off the hard drive.,...

Or maybe go back to the Westwood One Adult Standards network. After all, WNNG was an affiliate of that network before switching to "Unforgettable Favorites" about a year ago or so.

Memories from ABC is being merged into ABC's Stardust format to create a new format called Timeless Classics. It will be a sound between Adult Standards and Gold AC(Memories). All Memories and Stardust affiliates have the option to continue with it. The death of Memories happened at the same time as the Urban Gospel Rejoice format also bit the dust. ABC Radio is being sold to Citadel and cutbacks are the order of the day.

It's worth pointing out that WNNG's success has been built on things other than the music. I salute owner Gordon Van Mol. That station had always been a dog since it signed on in the 1950s. His sales/programming talent and leadership has turned it, in just a few years, into one of the most financially successful small market radio stations in Georgia.

How do you know about this?

We own and operate two Memories affiliates.

Agreed. The management at WNNG are really on top of things when it comes to super-serving Warner Robins and surrounding areas, especially when it comes to local news and sports. Now if only the WNNG website could be updated every once in a while, particularly when it comes to the sports page. There have been no live streams of the station's sports play-by-play in a while. Does anyone know what happened?
