I'm Telling you now!!!!! Their will Be A NEW urban In the ATL!!!!!! WNNX-FM Cumulus Alternative(will Be a Hip-hop and R&B Station) I was A The Meeting:) 96,600 Watts Of Hip-hop....V watch out. ClearChannel, you are to late

well 99.7 can't get any worse, it might acttuly get some ratings, but i whouldint count on Urbaninsite.com news, they are not always right

Doesn't matter. Until a station is willing to invest the time, money and personnel to become integrated into the community at the level of V, no one will touch them.

Alternative is soooooooooo much better than urban. The only good urban artist i know of is Ne-Yo & he's actually good.
why do you have to state this? what dose this have to do about atl radio?

If WNNX flips to hip-hop, how will that effect Q100.....seriously. ??? ;D

Re: WNNX-FM to become Hip-Hop - I don't think so

This is full of bad grammar and bad research (WNNX is 100kW). The person who posted this is probably an ex-V103 or ex-Hot 107.9 employee who wants to cause trouble.

After the Jamz disaster, I don't think anybody that will not put full resources into a station like this will. Besides, the market is very oversaturated with urban formats, thanks to Radio One (Hot, WR&B, WJZZ, Praise 97.5), Cox (95.5 the Beat, Kiss 104.1) and CBS (V103, WAOK) and other smaller intrests (WRFG 89.3, a few small lightbulb AM's). Also, Country music is overdone here with Kicks, Eagle, and stations from surrounding areas. There is a need in Atlanta for Adult Hits, AOR, and hot AC. Cumulus should try one of these formats instead.

If 99X goes, most likely Q100 will move up and take it's place, with a new format for 100.5.

V103 - urban
HOT 107.9 - urban
95.5 THE BEAT - chr/rhy
KISS 104.1 - urban ac
102.5 WR&B - urban ac

Is there room for another Urban station? If Cumulus actually launches "BLAZIN 99.7"(which i don't think) they'd have to spend some serious money to take on V103 and HOT 107.9. Cox failed their chance with urban on 97.1 JAMZ for the simple fact of no on-air personalities and no budget on quality promotions or events(the new 97.1 THE RIVER has live jocks..hmmm?). Lets not forget Clear Channel tried Rhythmic then Urban on WILD 96.7 back around 2000. We all know 96.7's signal is no winner for Atlanta metro period, but the alternative format stuck around 'til they were finally moved to a bigger signal(hmmmmmm?). The real question is why didn't Cox or Clear Channel invest in creating a powerhouse urban station?

LOL! I can't believe anyone takes this seriously, and spends time thinking about how it could or could NOT work. 99X is not going hip hop. The next station to flip will be DAVE FM - bet on it.

>the next station to flip will be DAVE FM, bet on it<

Spanish speaking people seen in the office suites at Dave. A Spanish news talker on a good signal. It should kill.

Well, you sat in a meeting huh? So did I, with all the Dickey's and top Cumulus programmers and brass who all but swore on the childrens eyes that 99x was staying. Also they are bringing in a new morning show that is supposed to start in Sept. Nice try but 99x isnt going hip-hop or anything else anytime soon.

Were the spanish people spotted in the Dave FM suites cleaning the office after hours?

Hey Nutznorm are you Rude's agent? Is Rude going to his rightful home the FM band. I hear hullinger is looking for work and we all know Skanky Steve Rickman must be tiring from announcing who's next on the main stage so... Rude has to be younger than Fram so he might not be out of his element age-wise. Just a random thought. I get the feeling their will be all new players in the morning on 99x but not necessarily people we are not faamiliar with.

We do NOT need another urban-type station in Atlanta. Please! Somebody slap these programmers upside the head!

The hip hop / urban arena is quite full in the atl. plus the format could have maxed out by now. The Fall book begins soon, any format changes should be happening in the near future. dave is just to "aor" or "all over the road." CBS is too tight to do research of marketing, always have been. 99x is probably still being tweeked by the new know it alls. The over played River stuff that we've had to endure for the past 30 plus years will soon level off.

A Spanish news talker on FM? Yeah right. They'll put Spanish music on first.

i hate too see atlanta go down the tubes..when i lived there it had great radio stations..but that was 16 years ago..z93 had just came on..96 rock was still rock..94.1 had just became star 94.1 and even 98.5 wsb was a good station. now its just as bad as anywhere else. and on the hip hop..yea atlanta needs that ::)
