New Orleans WNOE HD2 playing iHeart TikTok Radio

I just heard Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” on WNOE’s HD2 stream when I was scanning my HD radio thingy in Lafayette, which kind of surprised me because #1 KBON is usually on 101.1 and #2 I don’t remember WNOE having an HD2 stream. When the legal ID played it said something about TikTok Radio. iHeard this was happening in some other markets as well.

WNOE is not running HD this week as I think they have issues at the transmitter (WRNO, WNOE and WWL FM on low power). But Sunday and today produced no HD signal in town .

HD signals usually overtake a analog, as KRRV used to take over from KLRZ until they put a HD on frequency translator on the west bank.

Wondering if you were catching something else? As it was Black information network until recently .

It’s possible they finally dropped BIN on WNOE-HD2 (a legacy from an attempt to get the previous sports format on FM), as WODT has its own translator.

when I heard it in Lafayette that night WNOE was definitely blasting in like a local with HD locked in and everything. The HD2 stream literally said “WNOE, HD2, New Orleans. This is TikTok Radio, Guaranteed human blah blah blah” you get the picture. I also caught Q93, B97, and a couple others i think, but Q93 couldn’t lock in and B97 had no HD probably due to interference from The Dawg.

Ok last weekend I got no HD lock on WNOE, for some reason, got no lock on WYLD tonight.
I figure they've been trying to get WNOE back up as they powered down WRNO and WWL (If i remember they are running a combined antenna in Chalmette). And some friends who aren't radio people were complaining about having to listen to RNO on app cause FM was non existent in Houma.

As of a quick radio scan 2-13

Forgot to check 89.1, but they use HD to feed their translators down in Houma and think on northshore.
89.9- Running normal HD signals as they use 89.9 HD2 to feed transmitters in Nola, Houma, and beleive north shore
90.7 - only main signal
93.3 - only main signal
95.7- only main signal
97.1- FM only no HD attempt for lock so the pilot isn't being sent out.
98.5 - FM only no HD attempt (guessing YLD and NOE flipped exciters)
99.5 - main and feed of their throwback 96.3 on hd2
100.3 - running Main signal HD on the in band translator
101.1 - main number 1, Top 40 TikTok radio on hd2 (with jocks)
101.9 - main channel only
105.3 - wwl and wwl2

I find I heart won't run a HD2 unless its money to be made or saved, as 99.5 is to feed the translator, and guessing WNOE is originating station for tik tok radio (songwriter amount reduction as its on a broadcast station)

Someone asked about BIN, and it has a FM translator on 96.7 for 1280am. And was surprised that it stayed this long on NOE2 ( my guess was no extra cost).

Im wondering if anyone knows what's up in BR , as YNK and FMF have been missing on my band scans lately

I know those 2 had reduced HD power for a bit and I’ve personally seen 102.5 HD off before. I know lately 101.5 has blank RDS with a PI code of 0000 and 102.5 has the proper PI code (not the iHeart standard of starting with 1).

For New Orleans I’ve been monitoring those stations through a web tuner located in Mandeville. 97.1 HD was off from around 4/1/25-11/20/25 and went back off 1/25. Their RDS has been blank since before then.

98.5 HD has been off since 1/17

99.5, 101.1, & 105.3 HD is currently off and have been randomly been going on and off but 105.3 is up more than the other 2. The outages can last between 5 minutes to multiple hours it seems. 99.5 & 101.1 have no RDS when their HD is off. I’ve also noticed the 96.3 translator stays on when 99.5 HD goes down. I doubt that station temporarily moves to 93.3 HD2 or 103.7 HD2 but it could?

It's like many others, run the programming and just simulcast it on the HD2 to appease the FCC.

Had one years ago, you could tell they were feeding the "source" with the web stream and feeding the translator direct as the HD signal was off by about 3 minutes..

Was on North Shore today. No HD on WRNO WNOE or WWL FM, the signals also seemed weaker than other NOLA stations. WFFX which uses the same antenna seemed normal power and had HD turned on.
In B.R. WFMF and WYNK were at very low power with no HD. WFMF was in mono as well.
