WNOW calls moving?

Rumor has it on the NYC board that the WNOW calls are going to move to CBS Radio's new "92.3 Now" up there. Does anyone know? Is it Gaffney Broadcasting or Davidson's sale/decision?

I think Now 97.5 in Philly tried to buy them before and they didn't want to sell.

I would sell them. Money talks and CBS has a lot of it.

Speaking of WNOW....

are they ever going to move?
Yeah. My signal is iffy. I do like those accordions and tubas.

The letters referred to Contemporary Christian music back in 1987 and they're meaningless now.

On the South Carolina board they say Davidson has been sold.

So what tower site are they broadcasting from? I'm in the Greenville SC area and scan always stops there, which gets sort of annoying. Wish 105.3 would get out of the way - did nothing for me in English, nothing for me in Spanish.

They may not have a city grade signal all over the eastern Charlotte market but they do have a massive current signal area. Actually they will be downgrading their current status so to move to the Charlotte area. The xmitter is now located in the Rutherford Cty area, about 20 mi north of Gaffney and they reach both the Greenville & Charlotte markets very well. If not having to be tied to one metro, they would be situated in a seemingly good location. That is old school now though as many stations are willing to reduce their ERP greatly just to get local penetration in one market. Unfortunately, WNOW died and became Spanish, so they are probably just moving to Gaston Cty so to play to the Hispanic market in Charlotte.

Have they even started building the new site yet? It's rare for a move to take this long. It's been going on forever.

It took Susquehanna from 1998 until 2004 to get WABZ-FM 100.9 moved from Albemarle to Indian Trail.
