WNPC Newport gets upgrade approved

Bristol Broadcasting gets their upgrade of WNPC to C3 status and moving the tower a little closer to Greenville. Any thoughts on what they might do with it? Keep it local for Newport or try something with it in the Tri-Cities. Or sell it for a big profit. They got it for a song.

They'll probably use it as a simulcast of WFHG-FM.

Then again, I figured that would have already been done.

It'll be interesting to see what happens to C-93

Interesting that they would be moving it closer to Greeneville. If this goes through, then it makes me wonder if they'll drop the country format to keep from interfering with WXBQ, its new sister station. This will be interesting, and I think they'll eventually drop all Newport elements. I'm surprised Bristol Broadcasting hasn't tried to sell daytimer WNPC-AM. It's a waste of a simulcast of the FM, with the exception of religious programming on Sunday.

If they moved further away from Sevierville and closer to Knoxville, but that will never happen.

But WMYU isn't even near Sevierville. It's in Karns I believe. ???

WMYU calls are now on 93.1 licensed to Karns, northwest of Knoxville. WNPC 92.9 is moving the tower closer to Greenville but moving up to class c-3 increasing their coverage. With a 93.1 in Benton, Cleveland mkt., I doubt they will get an increase in class.
