WNPV AM To Cease Operations

WNPV Inc. has announced that it will cease operations of News/Talk 1440 WNPV/98.5 W253CA Lansdale PA at the end of April.

The station serves the northern suburbs of Philadelphia with a mix of local and syndicated talk shows. WNPV also carries local high school sports plus Philadelphia Phillies baseball and Penn State University sports.

In a statement announcing the impending sign-off, General Manager Phil Hunt commented, “In recent years, it has become increasingly difficult to compete for both audience and advertising dollars, and unfortunately it is no longer sustainable to continue to run the business in a way that delivers the service our community expects and deserves.”

The future of WNPV is to cease operations but who will take over these operations is uncertain.

I look like real estate is worth more than the license. Lots of nice houses the property. A developer would love to get their hands on it I bet.

Shame. Once there was WBUX, a great station even in the 1990s. I have tapes. WEEX Easton . WNPV. WCOJ Coatesville, WPAZ in Pottstown. Around the perimeter of the city . WBCB is all that’s left . Any music heard on there , however sounds like it’s coming from a Fisher Price record player . There is nothing left. WJZ was excellent, back in the mid 1990s , it didn’t last though , with turntables and some compression, it sounded wonderful. A great signal out of Pemberton , I remember listening to it out in Devon Pa...it still came in strong. Disney came in and I was jolted again . I’m just reminiscing now....
