Didn't try to listen to this one while I was there - is it even on? License is still valid....

It's been off for probably 3 years, but apparently no silent STA is in effect.

Satellite photo shows tower and building still there - think that is accurate? Covers a bunch of people that is for sure

I was on radio-locator this morning and noticed that it was still showing up even though it has been off the air for years, I haven't tried to tune it in to see if it is actually off the air but will give it a listen today. The last time I dialed across 1580 AM I got a station out of Lafayette, Ga.

I've received the Georgia station; most often I get Lexington KY. Seems they never filed an silent STA and thus are still in the database.

There is a June 2015 letter in the FCC file saying the license renewal from 2012 had been red lighted and it gave them 30 days to fix it or the application would be dismissed. So it is likely history at this point

For WNPZ, the FCC declined (for apparent delinquent fines or it could have simply been for failure to apply for STA and extended "off-air" period), and the FCC deleted the license and callsign.
