WNTC-Drakesboro

Anyone here know the status of this "station"? At one point, it was rebroadcasting Way-FM out of Brentwood, then it did a short stint with WNSR-AM in Nashville. Anyone know what's up with this and the actual status of this signal. I know there were some MAJOR issues when it came online with WIKY in Evansville which is at 104.1. WNTC's frequency sits at 103.9.

The call letters have a better story. Owner Randy Bell has a long relationship with JAM Creative Productions in Dallas; based in Evansville he sold jingle packages. While the rest of the world heard demos that shouted names like "Kiss", "Coast", WLS, and WABC those stations hear the call letters "WNTC". The head of JAM, Jonathan Wolfert used the call letters of his first radio job of a radio station outside of New York City. He used those call letters for the initial demo. Randy acquired a composite of different packages using the call letters WNTC and was able to acquire the call letters. What is now "93.5 The Wolf" licensed to Chandler was put on the air by Randy Bell as "WNTC" using the package. A dozen years ago he LMA WMSK and beyond the top of the hour it was "WNTC" thanks to that package. Since WIKY is a local I rarely hear the station so as far as I know they have never aired the jingles.

It has a huge tower on a big hill. I have been there a few times in the past. Lovely area of Kentucky. I hear the signal South of Owensboro when traveling.

Fascinating story Rob! Thank you!

What are they airing currently? Surely it's not rebroadcasting WNSR-AM in Nashville?
