WNUY, Bluffton sells for a cool million

From ALL ACCESS:

Indiana Station Sold For $1 Million
WELLS COUNTY RADIO CORPORATION is selling AC WNUY (Y-100)/BLUFFTON, IN to INDEPENDENCE MEDIA OF INDIANA, LLC for $1 million. The seller previously sold WADM-A/DECATUR, IN to HOLDEN BROADCASTING and says in the WNUY filing that it expects to close on that deal TODAY (11/15).

Will this station be moved into Ft. Wayne?

Any idea if the new owner will change format, and to what?

You bet!
Edited by pprd on 11/16/05 03:33 PM.

I remember when you could have bought this station for $50K. Anyone remember that rickety staircase up to the second floor, two room "complex" in Bluffton? VERY scary. When the announcer would crack the mike, the transmitter fans roared in the background. Moving the signal to Ft Wayne would be a loss for Bluffton and it would add nothing to Ft Wayne.
______________

I remember it being WCRD..automated Beautiful Music. Seems like WNUY did a nice job serving Wells County in the shadow of Ft. Wayne. More than likely it'll be a move-in, though I don't know how close they can go. At one time, WLKI was also on 100.1. Even on 100.3 (first adjacent) it could be a problem.

WNUY has a CP to run 6kW from a site in Ossian. This should give them city grade coverage of all but the northernmost areas of Fort Wayne. Interestingly, no one is doing a Mainstream AC format in Fort Wayne, so they really wouldn't even have to change formats when they move in. And even though they aren't on the new stick yet, they have been ID'ing as WNUY Bluffton-Fort Wayne.
