Matt When a station operates on an STA (Special Temporary Authority), they operate at 1/4 of their licensed power, thus WNWK has been on 250 watts daytime since they came back on a couple years ago. The STA's run for a few months but have to be renewed (and paid for). Perhaps with the 2 tower system, it was the only way they could maintain the signal levels required to protect Washington and Trenton. If you remember correctly, WNRK operated with 500 watts for many years and got the power increase to 1000 watts in the 80's, which actually hurt them as the nulls became deeper in their primary areas. And with the old 3 tower directional, the 44 watts at night hit Oxford but didn't make it to New Castle, mainly because the modulation was run pretty hot on the night power (all audio, no signal I always said!). Perhaps a situation where they have to get something done, put the station at a permenant location, get it operational and then apply for a power increase later on.
