WNWR 1540 staying on late?

With the former WPTR 1540 in Albany, NY off the air until further notice last night sitting in my car in Bristol, Connecticut I picked up a station on 1540 AM with a weak signal just before 10PM and heard mentions of "China" and "Bejing." Doesn't WNWR run "Radio China International?" I also thought WNWR was a daytimer, so they should've been off the air before 10PM. (Yeah I know a lot of stations don't play by the rules).

Maybe there was a brutal E-skip and you picked up 1540 out of Los Angeles.

Marc,

What you heard was indeed CHIN 1540 in Toronto. They're a DA-2, 50 kW day, 30 kW night. The night pattern is aimed NE with a sharp null toward Albany. Here in the Philly area, they would duke it out with WDCD after WNWR's signoff.
