WNWV Cleveland to drop smooth jazz

Sad news for us NAC/SJ fans: after 22 years in the format, WNWV will flip formats to Triple-A/AAA on or before 1/4/2010.

The current NAC format will continue on HD (which is a waste of time) & thankfully they'll stream it on-line as well.

Found out about this on the Smooth Jazz board. Unfortunately, the flips have become par for the course for the format over the past couple of years. I've said it before on the SJ board and I'll say it again. If pioneers like WQCD, WNUA, and KKSF can go by the boards, no one is really safe, not even in markets where the format seemingly is doing relatively well. The irony is, I cannot recall a time in recent memory when more good NEW music is being produced by a crop of young talented artists.
