WNYC 93.9 and WNYE 91.5

Would it be possible for WNYC sell their 93.9 signal to a commerical buyer and buy 91.5 signal and upgrade to a full Class B signal?

The New York City Board of Education owns WNYE. I don't know if they would want to sell.

93.9 could be sold to commercial interests and likewise Pacifica could sell 99.5...

Whether anyone 91.5 or otherwise in the 88.1-91.9 band would want to sell is another part is another story.

Lots of politics at play here.

You can be certain scenarios have been discussed like this behind closed doors!

Re: WNYE No Longer A School Station

Early this year WNYE FM & TV were transferred from the Department of Education (formerly BOE) to the NYC DoItt - Department of Information Technology and Telecommunciations.

And it appears NYC DoItt has found a great revenue stream -- leasing huge chunks of WNYE-FM to XM over the last month or so. Great idea, and a great way for XM to market itself.

If memory serves, WNYE-TV has leased blocks of airtime for a while now...
