WNYC's Centennial

At 8:54 this evening, WNYC will mark the exact time it began broadcasting in 1924. To celebrate the station's 100th anniversary, the Empire State Building will be illuminated in WNYC’s signature red at sunset. Additionally, today through Wednesday, the voices of Brian Lehrer, Brooke Gladstone, and Michael Hill will be heard on announcements along the BMT Canarsie Line, and on platforms across the subway system.
