WNYH 740 AM What Are They?

The new WNYH is a station that comes in nice and clear as far as Kew Gardens and Ozone Park sections of Queens. The stations that occupied this frequency in the past could barely be picked up in those areas.

Although musically the station sounds great (IMO), this is a station that sounds like the WNEW-AM of the 70s, the former WGSM, Oldies WCBS-FM and WHLI. This is a station that would play Sinatra next to Martha Reeves and the Vandellas.

Right now the station is looking for advertizers. I hope they add some personalities.

Thanks,
Kevin L. Sealy

Don't hold your breath, Kevin. WNYH is a station that would like to have people buy time to run whatever format they want...but no one is buying.

WNYH is set up like a deli, the guy who owns it, some oriental doctor wants ads to walk through his door, they pay for ad time, the jocks pay for airtime, the jocks can sell airtime, but they must pay the doctor. He had a few great voices at his calling, but he screwed each of those guys and no one is getting hired!
Forget its there, forget its on, dont think he will be playing all the oldie moldy stax o wax, kicking the hits off the zits, rock and roll, its not going to happen!

We may mot like what this man is programming and we may not agree with his business practices or philosiphy.. but if hes paying the bills.. then it's his station to do with as he pelases.

If you want to see a format so bad or think the station sucks, go buy time from him.. or buy up some station and program as YOU see fit.

I wouldn't call it stooping so low... I just don't like when people criticize an owner for the way he chooses to run or program his station. They just sit and complain....

Dear Mr Walker, thanks for the advice, but please understand this, you could hog tie me, dip me in melted american cheese and toss me into a vat of hungry mice and I would still NEVER buy time on any station. I'm not standing upon a soapbox, I DID go to Doc Yoon, and was in fact one of the people that he screwed along the way. I have been trying to get a hold to that place since the early part of the decade.
Jobs promised, formats talked about, and plans made. The truth is the place is a hobby farm for the doc.
Just so you know most of the music you hear on WNYH belonged to my partner in radio and me, so yeah I feel as though I have a right to bitch.

CRAP THUNDER

WNYHa-ha-ha

I Laugh. On the dentist board someone said that the brokered shows that currently run on WWRL-1600 will be moving to WVNJ-1160 when Air America moves to WWRL. Some dude couldn't understand why they wouldn't move to WNYH. Oh, THAT's JUST RICH. :D
