WNYQ Sale Rejected by FCC

The FCC rejected WNYQ's application to assign the license from VOX to PAMAL, stating the 73.555 of the commissions rules.

My gut feeling is that this is actually rule 73.3555 market ownership rules, and the rejection was based on market ownership.

Anyone know what Vox is trying to do? Does this have anything to do with the Malta station increasing power??

Vox isn't trying to do zip!
Now Pamal can just and cancel their sale of Adirondack Broadcasting to whatever that trust is (ha, ha, ha!) and throw in the damn towel on trying to get 105.7 FM.
Galaxy should buy it and simulcast WEGQ (which will hopefully become either WEDX or WXED ["Ed 93.7 FM"]) as WEGF.
Edited by warnoldholmes on 08/04/05 09:21 PM.

Re: WNYQ Sale Rejected by FCC: THIS IS BIG!!

If TXengineer is correct, anybody in the business knows the WNYQ rejection is BIG news!

So, it sounds like PAMAL's Glens Falls trust including WZMR in Altamont, NY was a last ditch effort to get this past the FCC.

The FCC didn't go for it. PAMAL's got enough market share.

Warnoldholmes:
Allthough, WEGQ would make a good simulcast with a Malta based WNYQ, think about this, a WRCZ simulcast. The southern end of the TSA in Ravena and the northern end in Malta plus both surronding areas. Add in J.R. and Galaxy Communications makes it mark in the Capital Region. Galaxy has good quality products with low power. This would help.

Doesn't Galaxy have a relationship with Vox? Didn't they buy WHTR (now WEGQ)from Vox? I'm not sure.

The plot thickens.....

YOU ...........!

AS IF! WRCZ ALREADY has a strong signal!

>Galaxy has good quality products with low power. This would help.

But LOW POWER means a WEAK SIGNAL, which is just what WEGQ has! It doesn't even come in well in Albany and Troy! What the HELL makes you stupid enough to think that WRCZ needs WNYQ more than WEGQ does, and not vice versa? That would HURT!
You're supposed to help the NEEDY (WEGQ), not the GREEDY (WRCZ)!

There is no need for name calling, Arnold

Cmon now. That was uncalled for, if you don't like his opinions, you can argue your side without calling someone a fool...

Vox is trying get millions for the investment they made in buying WNYQ five years ago. Too bad for Vox chief nerd Bruce Danziger. For the moment it looks like his game of buy, trash, and flip the station dejour has hit a snag in Glens Falls. Vox doesn't really want to tie up their money running a station in Malta, but if they have to, you can be sure they'll have their their old pal David Luyk (you know, the pawn who did Vox's bidding in firing a BLIND 30 year veteran broadcaster in Pittsfield last year) run the show for them in the meantime. Besides I think the market has missed the radio group owner who doesn't wear sox when he meets a client. Yikes! Calling Jefferson Pilot: Bob and Sherry made be needed soon in Malta. Double Yikes!!

Please, just stop right now! No one cares about your obession with Laura Freed and how she "had it out for you"! We've heard this a zillion times! OLD NEWS! Get over yourself and come to your senses. If you want a real job in radio, complaining and whining on this board isn't going to get you anywhere! When are you going to learn???

Re: WNYQ Sale Rejected by FCC: I TOLD YOU SO!

Chuck,

You really do need to get over it. You got fired or laid off or whatever...You really need to knock it off with the bashing of the person who fired you. I mean...how long has it been. Nobody ever questioned your radio training, yada yada yada. All we see is you take every opportunity you get to bash your former employer, and frankly, while I'm not trying to speak for everyone, we're all getting sick of it. Contribute your thoughts to the board, speak your mind, but let the Laura Freed thing go already, everybody knows you were the greatest thing to ever hit radio until the evil Laura Freed came along and crushed your hopes and dreams. She's the Joker to your Batman, the Darth Vader to your Luke Skywalker...we all know this.

So do us all a favor, just post your thoughts, and move on. I mean, it's probably not the best idea to bash your former employer, especailly when they own pretty much the entire area where you live and hope to get back in the biz someday.

Good Luck,
Manny Ramirez

VOX & such......one reply to another.....

"MANNY"?!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ADVICE!
If you search my history for HV; you will see that
not all of my posts are anti-vox or anti laura!
I am over my dismissal from vox & have in fact
gone on with my life since 1 year ago.
I see plenty of other axes being ground on
various strings in this board & don't see half of the
retributional reactions towards the sources of the grindings.
I feel that most every reply to my postings
are more personal than subjetive!
If I knew that those responding were "on topic"
& not "on chuck", I would understand.
But, they're not.

I am no RADIO GOD! Never claimed to be one!
Some others in VOX's employ sound like they feel as such.
I do feel my time in Berkshire County radio was
abbreviated prematurely & am entitled to my opinion to said actions.
If said opinions appear as bashes, my apologies!
Put yourself in my place & read the same statements again!
I do have acquaintances in the VOX employ & still converse with them.
I know what is going on regularly;
as well as over at the other station in town.
Please try to understand my thoughts on VOX.

Thank you for not harshly attacking me
as those before have done.

More Later!
______________

Re: WNYQ Sale Rejected by FCC: I TOLD YOU SO!

The blind meteorologist who was fired was none other than George Trottier of WNAW North Adams.

The other person who got the can was Ron Plock...<He was a newsman for the station.

How do I know this? I used to live in that area.
