WNYW/WWOR Could Be Gone From Cablevision On 10.15.10

Put yer OTA antennas up, kids - in western Freehold, it's perfectly receivable, one way or the other. BTW, does this also count for WTXF/Phila.?

Indeed it does, if your provider in South Jersey/Philadelphia is Cablevision.

(Earlier this year, WPVI was pulled from Cablevision, along with WABC, for all of one day during their dispute with Disney.)

so they are gonna pull fox while the world series is on oh man that's not good
COULD THIS HAPPEN? ...Yanks bring back the reg season play by players and do the series on YES.....MLB NET or WPIX.

The fight is not between MLB and cable... it's cable and fox....Yanks and MLB should work this out....

By the way did you notice other then ch 5 and ch 9 they also took off the low rated FBN...Why not take off Fox News Ch..
I think we know why....

Oh...here's an idea...cable should block fox news that should get them to table faster... just a thought..

To me, Fox Business has lost its value since canceling "The Dave Ramsey Show"...

So on Saturday morning, I got a frantic call from my sister-in-law in northern Jackson; they were planning to have a game party for the Giants game, and channel 5 was gone! What could they do?

There followed a jury-rigged tower raising in miniature, consisting of:

- A set of amplified tabletop rabbit ears
- A handy reel of coax
- A long power extension cord
- A pool skimmer pole
- A styrofoam-filled cardboard box
- Lots and lots of duct tape

Thankfully the weather was nice: long story short, we couldn't get WNYW directly, but we were able to get WWOR, and since they broadcast WNYW in 4:3 SD on a secondary channel, the letterboxed transmission was successfully displayed on the 57" set (in glorious 300-or-so line resolution) for all to enjoy.

I'm starting to think that the "insurance" of having a roof-mounted antenna is a worthy purchase.

What was the styrofoam cardboard box for?

To provide a platform that fit on top of the end of the pole, so that the amplified tabletop rabbit ears could be more securely attached to it. We packed styrofoam inside the box against the sides of the top part of the pole and duct-taped all that in place, giving us a nice solid platform to duct-tape the rabbit-ears onto. We used a bit more duct tape to provide tension relief on the connections.

Despite what you may be thinking, we had our first beer only after declaring success.

At least the ALCS is on TBS and not FOX so not many people are complaning. Just can't see the NLCS which is on FOX along with World Series.

For Cablevision of CT customers...FOX programs are on WTIC (cable 25) and My Network (not that anyone WATCHES THAT network) is on WCTX (cable 24). Neither stations are owned by News Corp.

But let me tell you something, I WANT MY FREEDOM WATCH WITH JUDGE ANDREW NAPOLITANO ON FBN!!!!

See my post on the Philly board regarding 5/9's sister station WTXF being gone from Cablevision to see why I believe NewsCorp is in the wrong in this situation.

It all depends on who you believe, Ken...

Meanwhile, I saw a spot from Fox saying Fox 5 and My 9 are off Cablevision. Then they go into all of the programs that viewers are missing - almost every single one of them is a Fox 5 program. I believe the only one that was a My 9 show was "Wendy Williams" but I think both stations air it. As Robert Anthony above suggests, it's as if Fox wants people to believe that My 9 has some sort of value.

Im not sure who to believe. Could go both ways.

And as for FOX programing only thing is NFL people are really missing and MLB World Series.

Forgot about American Idol. Wonder how this season will do with new judges.

And in my other post forget to say anything about My Network. Whats there to say? Its reruns of hit shows from other networks. Don't see how News Corps making money on it.

Don't Forget the Lyrics and 5th Grader - both show new episodes on Tuesday nights on My Network TV. As for reruns of other shows - what's wrong with that? Most of the Cable Networks (along with ION) do it all the time. - And if it was summer time The Yankees Fans would be screaming. The YES Network produces 15-20 Yankees Games (mostly on Tuesdays, a few on Fridays, and one or two on Thursday) a year for MY 9/WWOR. (I never counted to see the exact number. LOL).

I didn't know they show new episodes. As in my market the My Network is on a sub channel. I thought CMT just took over for showing "Are You Smarter Then A 5th Grader". And since I could remember not many over air networks broadcasted other popular shows from other networks. Really no point for My Network to as you can just find those shows on TNT and USA.

Seems only thing My Network is needed for is the Yanks during the summer. Surprise Yankees still have over the air broadcasts as Red Sox air all games on NESN, 38 WSBK used to air games some years ago.
