WNYW/WWOR Could Be Gone From Cablevision On 10.15.10

How about if Cablevision makes a deal to Fox and all the other broadcast stations to not pay them anything, and instead give every customer an antenna, and save $5 a month on their bills.

I think the FCC should step in and force binding arbitration for both parties.

In the meanwhile, sports bars in Cablevision territory are going to be packed on Sundays.

I wonder if Cablevision can make a temporary deal with the Connecticut and Baltimore Fox stations since they're not owned and operated by Fox.

That wouldn't be a bad idea showing another FOX station. Couldn't they use on in Upstate New York?

As for this whole problem its mostly News Corp. keeping FOX from Cablevision. Which is pretty pointless. FOX must not want good ratings and people to view their networks.

The only problem is that a significant portion of their subscribers might discover that they're using the antenna more than they're using the cable hook up -- and just cancel the cable completely. And if even 5% of their subscribers did that, they'd ended up losing a lot more money than what they would pay to Fox to settle this dispute.

How about this...cablevision blocks Fox news ch. that will bring Fox to the table....

Just a thought...

Would it be legal for CV to show an out of market station? I thought there were FCC rules around that.

Im not sure. Would just be a good idea if possible so people in those areas with Cablevision can see FOX. People in southwestern Connecticut who have Cablevision still can see FOX as they are getting the CT FOX Station.

I would be nice if Cablevision would put WTIC the fox station here in CT
in high def. So you can see the games in high def, rather than playing around with the computer.
But that might be to much to ask for.

Are you able to recieve WTIC over the air?
Seems most cable companies do that, by only having the main local channels in HD.

I had some time to kill before work yesterday. While Clark Howard on 600 WICC was in a commercial break I did a band scan and either on WOR or WCBS I heard an ad telling Cablevision Customers they should demand a refund because they're paying $20/month for the package that includes local channels and they're not getting FOX 5 and MY 9. They said Demand A Refund or call and change providers.

Would $20 dollars a month be basic cable being only the locals? This just seems like FOX saying they aren't doing anything wrong.

Let me correct this. I just went to the Cablevision website and typed in a New York City zip code. The cost for package "Broadcast Basic" is $15.52 thats for Brooklyn and Bronx. I also typed in zip code for Newark, NJ and its $9.32 for the same "Broadcast Basic" package. FOX needs to get their facts straight before opening their mouth.

BREAKING! DEAL REACHED WITH FOX.

Fox5 and MY9 are back on the air.

Cablevision is pleased to announce that we have come to a resolution with News Corp. Starting immediately, you can now enjoy your Fox 5 and My9 programming. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Thank you for your patience, patronage and continued support.
