Shelby Broadcast Associates (Lee and Andrea Reynolds, otherwise known as Reynolds Technical Associates) is the buyer.

It's also being rumored they're going Sports.

All this info is taken from Mr. Zach and his awesome Alabama Broadcast Media Page.

And i assume they plan to if not already own a translator? or would they try to boost signal?

I wonder what "Killer Diller" is gonna do with it… Extend his WKXN/WKXK simulcast?

Or maybe split it up with one station for greenville and one dedicated solely to montgomery?

More than likely, Roscoe "Killer Diller" Miller will relocate to this spot and increase his Gump coverage area. Once that move happens, I see 102.7 FM going off the air and turning in the license. That's my prediction.

basically what i said, for 25 plus years WKXN has been a greenville station that simulcasts into montgomery.

Prediction: 102.7 Will be sold or leased. WNZZ will allow the KXN simulcast to cover more of Montgomery. 102.7 was only 10 watts because of the current relay situation. WNZZ AM will allow for more power and coverage on the new translator in Montgomery. This is a win for the WKXN/WKXK simulcast.

IMHO, i think 102.7 would make a perfect translator for either WLWI-AM 1440 or WMSP 740 , since we already have 2 or 3 of everything, might as well add a new sports or talk station.

Scratch the WIQR thought. I like your idea Mr. JD. It seems like the best choice.

Thank you Dan.
I have plenty of other ideas, but in this town they all fall upon deaf ears.

KXN previously had 3 translators in Montgomery (and more around the area). Why wouldn't they want to keep 102.7 and get back up to two? Perhaps from different parts of town.

Now for more breaking news...WNZZ 950 AM is being sold to Roscoe Miller, along with the 94.1 FM relay. This info is taken from the other site.

not really breaking news, though i should have mentioned it was a package deal when i said shelby was just a broker on the purchase. plus it's been alluded to during the conversation as to what would happen to 102.7

It would be very interesting to know how many listeners WKXN had on their main, Greenville, station, the Pine Hill station, and the Montgomery translator.
Is it possible they have more listeners in Montgomery than the 2 full power signals to the west?

That's a good question. I don't guess they'd ever show up in the ratings, since the main station is out of the market. But there are certainly more "potential listeners" in The Gump than the other two station's footprint combined and then some.

That leads to an interesting thought… That WNZZ and its translator could be used for a similar but uniquely programmed service just for Montgomery, allowing the other two stations to focus on the rural communities they cover. I never did understand the nature of having a signal in a metro are as well as the towns so far to the south. I doubt anyone in Montgomery would drive to Greenville for an ad they heard on the translator, although a few might do the reverse and remember an ad for a Montgomery business that airs on the local station(s) south of the city.
