WOAI slices number of traffic reports?

Unless today was a fluke, it appears they've dropped the traffic updates that air during the syndicated shows -- Beck, Rush and Hannity -- at 20-25 and 50-55 past the hour. Today they were each plugged with a couple promos, followed by Mr. Announcer Dude telling us that "Your next traffic update is less than 10 minutes away" ... i.e. the top and bottom of the hour updates. Seriously? Also ... the new music they're using under the traffic reports is horrid, FWIW.

Whatever. Since they are "San Antonio's news, weather and traffic station" it seems like an odd choice.

You have a point there for certain roads in SA. Transguide has a big blind spot north of 410, especially on coverage of US 281. Transguide is the source of choice for every traffic reporter in the city.

Many's the time I've sat in the world's longest parking lot heading out of SA on 281 and wondered why WOAI traffic never mentioned the fact that nobody was going anywhere and then I had to go to SA to work for a couple of weeks and after sitting in it on a daily basis, it finally dawned on me, that's the normal flow of traffic there from about 4-6 PM so it's not unusual, therefore there's nothing to report.

I do like radio traffic reports, they're one of the reasons I even listen to the radio when I'm driving in either morning or afternoon traffic, now the ones I think are kind of useless are the ones on TV in the morning. That's never made sense to me.
 
Don't intend to change main topic, but has anyone else noticed the distinct difference in audio quality between Charley Parker and all the others during the AM show? Parker's bits have an awful resounding hollowish echo, while everyone else sounds radio studio perfect. Is Parker broadcasting from the WOAI broom closet or the restroom in his own home?
 
As anyone who works there knows, WOAI's traffic reports don't even originate in San Antonio during non-rush hours. Those come from KTRH studios in Houston. That's why you'll hear street names butchered from time-to-time. One might wonder how a guy in Houston can do S.A. traffic: the same way the people in WOAI's studios do it...they just read off a computer screen! More CC "efficiency."
