WOCA Ocala Now 24-Hours/Streaming

WOCA-AM 1370 Ocala commenced 24-hour operaton today, Thursday, July 22, with a variety of night-time and overnigt quality talk programming. "Rounding-Out" the broadcast day, WOCA has added financial guru Clark Howard and other night-time programs and has been home to Rush Limbaugh since 1989 and also broadcasts Sean Hannity. The audio stream can also be heard over the internet at www.woca.com.

I was wondering when or if WOCA was ever going to go 24 hours. We received nighttime authorization when I was there, back in 1992.

I don't suppose there's any chance of them getting an FM translator (?) The band is packed pretty tightly in those parts.

Oh I thought WSKY took Rush away from WOCA....

WOCA has the first rights to Rush for Ocala, dating back to 1989 when Rush first went national. WOCA was among the first 50 national Rush affiliates, so WOCA and Rush have a long history. WSKY obtained Rush for the Gainesville market in 1998 since WOCA does not cover Gainesville. At the time, WSKY's tower was in Newberry and had no primary coverage over Ocala. When WSKY moved its tower back to Miccanopy, WSKY's signal provided a city grade (and still does) over Ocala, making it possible for Rush to be heard in Ocala on both WOCA and WSKY. However, no one took anything away from anyone.

Yes, as of this week, WOCA is operating 24/7 with "around-the-clock" talk programming. Clark Howard has already been added to the line-up and others are coming on board.

Right now on the 1370 AM side, WOCA operates with 5kw-day and 33-watts at night. With the newly added audio stream, you can now hear WOCA from anywhere around the world via the internet.

Regarding an FM translator, that may be an option as one becomes available.
