Does anyone know what is the footprint of this station? I live in Elmhurst
and only receive grainy static. It must be a very low power outlet.

I live on the near Northwest side of Chicago and can't get the station at all but all the other low powers, 41, 48, and 23 come in crystal clear. 34 comes in OK. But due to WOCK-CA's directional antenna, it has a very strange coverage pattern

Looks like they've got to limit radiation in the direction of Rockford
and Indianapolis, both of which have full power stations on 13.

Grand Rapids might be protected too..though any power over the lake is wasted anyway..

WOCK-CA's signal must protect 13 in Michigan because of the proximity of Michigan, it can interfere with the 13 in Michigan. That's why WOCH-LP, now WOCH-CA on 41 nulls to Michigan to protect the 41 in Battle Creek/Kalamazoo MI.

the lake. Wonder if they could reverse that and extend the
signal the other way to blanket more of the western suburbs.
Wouldn't Rockford still be a long way off to avoid any interference?

No. WREX has a large coverage area, especially compared to other Rockford stations. I saw a coverage map for it once that showed its signal reaching nearly to Aurora, for example.

Funny but when I lived in Elk Grove Village, about 15 mintues NW of O'Hare airport, I could always get Channels 13 and 8 from Grand Rapids at night in the summertime. I never got any Rockford Stations. <P ID="signature">______________

Probably because you had an antenna pointed towards downtown Chicago, which is much more favorable to signals from west Michigan than from Rockford.

I was able to get a crisp static free signal in Zion. Using a rooftop antenna.
