WOCY-FM 106.5 Hitz 106 off the air for good?

Can someone tell me what happen to WOCY-FM 106.5? I notice they were off the air then i went to thier website and its gone too are they gone for good? I know they have a sister station Oyster Radio on 100.5 fm. The last time I hread is that someone was selling WOCY-FM im not sure if that was the case or was it too much money to run both stations in a small town of Eastpoint Florida.

Live Communications, licensee of WTAL 1450 in Tallahassee, is buying WOCY for $250k.

So what happen next? It would be nice if WFCT 105.5 moves to 106.5 with 100,000 singal would be nice. WFCT doesnt cover Tallahassee since WFRF 105.7

They will likely rebroadcast WTAL over 106.5.

WFCT has different owners than these stations.

First Atlanta sends their sewage down to Apalachicola to kill of the oysters and now Oyster Country is gone too? Oh the humanity!

WTAL is mostly a satellite feed of Rejoice Musical Soulfood with some brokered preaching shows.

I have a friend in Lanark Village who is a retired radio guy now in his 70s. He shares poledo's sentiments. He also keeps me in tne loop about a lot of things radio.

cceng, hope you enjoyed the hamfest!

I wonder if the "sell" will go through given the potential cost of the transmitter repair. How much advertising can anyone REALLY sell in this area?

Tibbs, these people at WTAL are amateurs.

Most of their ads are for the church behind the parent company and PI spots.

Alan - is this the same folks that took over 104.3 in PC? I can't keep all the frequencies and religious formats filed properly in my head. Hope you are doing well, sir!

No. Appears to be a different dude. That 104.3 PCB guy from Tally's 1410 not 1450. I think. What's so special about Tally's 14k AM band all of a sudden? People there have money to burn.

It's time to turn off all those Tally AMs. Useless stations. Tally should become the first all FM market in the USA.

Hey Poledo ~ CCENGs assleep. Should we bust on some PFM programmin now? ;D

Yeah, but I should also be asleep.

I was just channel surfing on the TV and stumbled across Dazed and Confused. 1977 teenagers driving around the strip aimlessly... drinking beer... smoking a little... all listening to the same rock n roll... Looking for the keg and the babes. Looking to get laid. Panama City without the beach... Was life like that in other parts of the country or was PCB really as special as we thought it was?

I tell ya. There ain't no way anyone could program a Great 108 today. No one at all. Too many dang rednecks listening to hip hop down on that there beach. It's not radio, it's pop culture that's screwed up right now. Will the cycle ever come back around for us normal folk? I know it won't for us oldsters but is there hope for the kids?

Oyster Radio 100.5 I have no promb with them its a great station for a long time. Thier singal seem to get alittle better around the big bend area than before. By the way this is off topic here. i notice WFLA 100.7 getting weaker during the hot warm days during the weekends when im listren to FSU Baseball. I know around this time of weather we always get Tampa Bay's 100.7 and other Tampa Bay's stations up around here and Tallahassee.

Tibbs,

Poledo's correct, it's a different company.

I'm hanging in there. Since I've retired I probably spend too much time on here! But am working on the LPFM behind the scenes. It will be almost a polar opposite of these "satellator" LPFMs.

WOCY was on the air this morning. Heard "Radioactive" by Imagine dragons and a Hitz 106 sweeper before WCJX took over again. (both stations fight over the frequency from my location most warm mornings)

Just a little off:

"That's what I love about high school girls, I get older, they stay the same age."
"All right, all right, all right."
"Hey, hey, watch the leather man."
"It'd be a lot cooler if you did."

The high school graduate, Matthew McConaghey, said the above

"What are you looking at? Wipe that face off your head, bitch."

The head senior bitch said that to a freshman.

"Dazed and Confused" and "Slacker", two most watched movies in college... Maybe add "Altered States" and Cheech and Chong flicks to that list.

"You should never, you should never, you should never.... you should quit, you should quit, you should quit..."
-Messed up woman in the coffee shop from Slacker

It may require an altered state of mind to appreciate "Slacker". Maybe not, I've never tried watching it straight.
And of course this week is the anniversary of the 1977 release of the best movie ever, "Smokey and the Bandit".

I don't watch many movies. Short attention span. Maybe I need Ritalin?
