WODS de-emphasizing "Oldies 103.3"

This post for WODS seems to be going over to discussions about WBCN. But back to WODS for a moment. If Mighty Mike does not do his show tonight at 7pm. And we hear Tom Kent again. I think its a safe bet, that Mike was replaced by that awful show.

they should put JJ Wright" on to hose their Saturday Night Dance party. JJ Wright is maddd cool. I got to intern for him back at KISS 108 back in the day. He is madd cool
Before interning for JJ. I used to skip class to listen to him when he hosted "The Morning Workout" They used to play Dance Music mixes 11am-11:30am. He was BANGING!!!! Cambodian and Laos gang members used to also listen to his show.
Yo JJ, KEEP it Gangsta!!!!!
JJ's cool
Peace To all

Tom Kent is listed as a Saturday night feature show on the 103.3 website.

Mighty Mike is still doing other weekend shifts and fill-ins.

I remember J.J. did a great "Saturday Night Dance Party" show on WROR about ten years ago. But, would he want to come in Saturday nights after working all week Monday through Friday?

Also, the point with running Tom Kent Saturday nights is that WODS no longer wants to pay a local air talent for that shift. They probably get Kent's show for short money - or maybe even no money if it's paid by national ad barter. Then, they just have to pay the local board-op, and probably not all that generously.

Although Mike and the 70s Show are still listed under the DJ's link.

Maybe Uncle Dale's contract is coming to a close and they need someone to fill the Saturday morning shift.

I haven't listened to WODS since the start of Zito and Jen...sorry, Zito and Karen. The station really hasn't been the same for me since the layoffs started (Jimmy, Mauzy, Patrick, Finegan, Patrick again) and of course that well publicized but god-awful Bob Lobel experiment.

I wouldn't trust their website. They still list Scott Roberts on there as hosting the Sunday overnight/morning (2-6 AM) shift. I find it hard to believe that he's still doing that shift, since during the week they definitely have nobody on from 12 AM-6 AM. Can anyone confirm this, or has anyone heard him doing any other weekend shifts?

Doubt it. Wolfman is on Sat overnights following Tom Kent (previously Mighty Mike) and AT40/70s runs midnight to 3am following Lost 45s Sunday nights/Monday mornings.

I've been noticing the jocks not saying "Oldies 103.3" but rather "103.3 WODS". I don't suggest that a format change is in the works as the station is still doing quite well in the ratings and should continue to do so. But, the word "oldies" is being de-emphasized throughout the country. 'ODS still plays the "Oldies 103.3" jingles for now. But, like the word "oldies" is going out of style, I'm sure the jingles will change as well.

A lot of the de-emphasis going on all around is due to PPM and not format changes. The drilling of slogans or monikers is much less important in a PPM era. It really isn't important that people know what they are listening to as long as they are listening.

Heard Mighty Mike this morning, filling in for Patrick, doing the Countdown. Had the home radio tuned into Oldies 103 (sorry, 103.3 WODS) because Worcester's 100FM The Pike (which I normally listen to) had the Pats game Thursday night and so I switched stations and hadn't switched back. Mike sounded great.

And, while scanning the dial in the car at various times this week:

Heard Patrick filling in for Paula and heard Neil White filling in for JJ.

First time in months I catch WODS and everyone is filling in for everyone else.

OLDIES 103 was one of the BEST STATIONS
I ever worked for
Nice people
They WILL do Okay!

Joe, I'm pretty sure I heard your Marshfield Fair ad on WODS, maybe yesterday. Heard it somewhere, anyway. Nice job.

Look what time of year it is. Summer is drawing to a close, Labor Day is coming up soon. It's vacation time (for those who can).

I think they flipped on the 4th. of July to XMas music last year. LOL. But seriously, it was a couple/few days before Vet's day.

which is still WAY TOO EARLY!

The Friday AFTER Thanksgiving SHOULD be the earliest but watch them witch on Nov 1st this year,or even SOONER.

If the advertising agencies tell them their clients want to start hawking their Christmas wares tomorrow, WODS will go all-Christmas tomorrow. Follow the money.
