WODS drops podcasts of Kasem

Did anybody locally know that Oldies 103.3 was podcasting multiple weeks of "Casey Kasem's American Top 40/The 70's" at its on-demand page?

Several Casey fans who had been stopping there to D/L them were surprised to find 'ODS had dropped them.

Ostensibly they got into trouble with Premiere, its syndicator? I can understand if they wanted to keep just the previous week's show once it airs, which in their case is Sunday 12mid-3am, but from what I found (1) the show was often available earlier Sunday, if not Saturday afternoon; (2) at least two and maybe as many as four weeks were available.

Casey and his shows, long before his recent retirement from radio countdowning, have had an amazing following, but radio tends to place them at times when not everybody is on a computer, and trying to stream-record anything can be problematic even for those wanting to make the effort.

Now I realize, especially with a company like Premiere, that whole shows are something a syndicator should be allowed to decide are only worthy of (dearly) paying customers, but shouldn't this just be done with Kasem?

I really don't know, but I'm guessing the problem was not with Premiere. I'm guessing it was more likely Digital Millennium Copyright Act licensing issues (the RIAA, BMI, ASCAP, etc...) relating to the posting of digital music, enforced by the FCC.

Do the Feds actually get involved with that? I was led to believe that was done solely by SoundExchange, the agent for the recording copyright owners.
