It would appear that now that the Christmas music is gone until November, they are back to playing the Greatest Hits of the 60s and 70s... And now the 80s! It sounds like they're becoming even heavier on 80s music. Have they been playing more since they were before they flipped to Christmas?

WODS now playing 80s music

They have been doing that for awhile now.
Indeed over the past several years they've done so. I don't know the actual point of reference years-wise but it used to be they'd start with Beatles/Motown/'64 and go up to end of the 70s
but now they prob. do many years of the 80s--and one can only wonder when/if they add the 90s.
They may well be playing songs that were top 40 hits at the same time they switched to oldies.
Now they use "greatest hits" as the O-word is so yesterday

The frame of reference keeps moving up, just as when they started they had the 50s then dropped them, but you wonder when they will drop the 60s and go 70s/80s/ or 70s/80s/90s. Given the number of people in the baby boomer generation--who are now getting much older, or dying--they are still hanging on to 60s, but the day may come when Beatles, Supremes, Stones, Beach Boys etc no longer get played on WODS
(though of course you would hear Beatles solo stuff, Stones from 70s, like Angie or Wild Horses,
and so on).

Smoke and mirrors. They played 80's music before but wouldn't admit it. Interesting to see if songs like "Jump" and "I Love Rock & Roll" get played in rotation after hearing them in the countdown of the top 103 of the decades they ran after the switch back from Xmas. Speaking of which, what was the basis for the ranking of their top 103? Seems like no slow songs were big in the 60s/70s/80s and "What I Like About You" which never even made the top 40 was ranked in the top 103 of the 80s.
Anyone listening to the decades channels on XM/Sirius knows that the decade years aren't necessarily what one would think. The 50s ended around '63; the 60s ran till about 72 or so etc.

Ah yes, the sticking point of defining a station by a decade. It's like "Back to the '80s Friday Night": "Unskinny Bop" is played almost every week, not because it was a hit in the 1980's, but because it's stylistically similar to most songs that were popular in that decade.

You are correct sir! "Oldies" to me is dawn of R&R to "American Pie." To one of the jocks on the oldies station I program, oldies is 55 to 64.
To others, oldies = 80's. You can now get away with calling "Uptown Girl" an oldie...and why not? Its almost 30 years old...
