WODT-AM now Gospel 1280

Ok so now we have two stations running gospel by clear channel? And we wonder why their stock is going down for?

I figured a station to compliment like say flip the sports provider or better try WRNO on am (ala WWL) or even classic country .... but another commercial gospel????

But what kind of gospel is it... same as wyld-am?

RF I was once in gospel radio. They are the exact same thing. Only diffrence is 940 also plays some preaching programs. Maybe they are going to dollar a holler on 940 and music on 1280?

My thing is why compete against yourself ??? ??? ???

I could understand them trying it on 104.1, as Clear Channel had a good run in equally racially made up American cities here in the south.

But you have the same format on two Amers? As someone said, it may be something to throw on until they can get Fox Sports or decide what they are going to do after Entercom stole the programming from WODT as stated in the Dave Walker article.

I told someone tonight, Out of all of the Christian stations on the air in the New Orleans area.... Only 2 are CCM that I am aware of (K-LOVE and Lifesongs.. please correct me if wrong but maybe WSHO does play some?) and only WSHO plays any kind of Southern gospel at all.

The reason I asked about the Gospel played as I figured they would try Southern Gospel or something plugged in from the Format Lab at least before a possible redo of WYLD-AM

RFLA

They had Fox Sports on WODT - there was nothing to get there. They could've easily put that on all day.

This was a money move pure and simple. I'm fairly certain they had to pay for Rome - but why pay for something that wasn't moving the needle?

Now, the only cost for that station is paying the transmitter bill.

And WYLD-AM already has "dolla a holla" - perhaps more of that is coming.

Until then, think of WODT as a HD radio station - without you needing the HD radio! ;D

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if Clear Channel's move on WODT was based on an expectation (or an information leak) related to the pending plans for Citadel on 102.9. Citadel has put sports talk on the FM dial in Nashville and Birmingham, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if that was the plan for 102.9 KKND in New Orleans.

Not to mention Oklahoma City, where they just spent quite a bit of money to upgrade WWLS to 100kw including downgrading and moving some outlying stations around.

Yeah but they would have to move a religious broadcaster in Rayne that loves his tower of power on the cajun prairie as it's heard over most of SW Louisiana and is the flagship for their little network out there (at 95kw and 1500ft) as well as Clear Channel's WMSI (Miss 103) in Jackson are all on the same frequency and are blowtorches...But separation rules would apply only to KKND to KAJN only as Rayne is too close to upgrade to a c2... would take a chunk to get them to downgrade would be my guess.

And what is the thinking with ESPN Sports on 1350 till 4pm...then the Tom Fitzmorris Food Show, then back to ESPN Sports at 7pm...WTF?!

Definatly smart on Entercom's part.. Why compete against yourself during Sportstalk?
