While listening to WOGgLe the other night on the way home, (by mistake) the DJ featured the Lost 45. The lost 45 was Neil Diamonds "Shilo" from 1970.
He explained that he was playing from an original 45, "the original radio version on Bang records." He began to say that the only version that was available now was a newer version re-recorded on Columbia records...
So I thought I was about to hear something obscure and different. It turned out to be the same version of Shilo I have heard about 1000 times.
The only other record I can think of off the top of my head on Bang Records (by a different artist) was Dereks "Cinnamon (Let Me In)" from 1968. If he wanted to feature a Lost 45 on Bang Records he should have played that one.
Anyway, did anyone else catch that on Woggle the other night? Am I missing something? I don't ever remember hearing a newer or different version of Shilo. To me it was the same song that we have heard throughout the years and I didn't see what was so "lost" about it.
I think WOGL is grasping at straws now, and they are afraid to actually play a REAL Lost 45 on the air for even 2 or 3 lousy minutes per day.
