WOGL 98.1 FM: CBS Radio's Next "Fresh" Maker?

why complicate the simple facts?i like 98.1 because it plays great songs from my high school and college days and it is fun to listen to.The personalities are really good.
I followed all the links you radio types talked about and saw it does really well in the ratings ,too. It seems to be a top station no matter how you slice it.

"THE DELAWARE VALLEY'S ONLY OLDIES STATIONS"?

That's what Jimmy Dee said on WVLT this morning! Right after Richie Valens' "C'mon, Let's Go," I think.

For those who don't know, WVLT is a Class A on 92.1 in Vineland, NJ. Its 60 dBu protected contour falls about 10 miles short of the Delaware River in most places, and reception on most non-auto receivers in Philly certainly isn't helped by 92.5 WXTU's I-BUZZ.

And it's not ALL Oldies. It's brokered after 7 PM and on weekends (okay, the Geator is brokered, too), and some of the stuff is either dreadful talk or music that doesn't fit the weekday format.

But in view of CBS's dropping of all Fifties records, and even most pre-1967 sides -- except for Motown cuts, and a few other items, al of which are long since burned out from overexposure -- and of CBS's decision to drop the work "Oldies" from its branding, he may have a point!

He may indeed, if ratings success isn't the objective. But ongoing success in today's radio landscape with Personality/Music Radio is about ratings success.
