WOGL HD-3 is now in Stereo and with RDS

Today, I saw WPHT on WOGL HD3 has the RDS saying "WOGL HD3 Philadelphia. CBS Radio. Live and Local Talk. and has better sound.

What I don't understand is why are they still running PHT on their 4, they can easily put KRTH or KLUV's HD-2 Classic Oldies formats on, it does not make any sense, unless they are so paranoid about loosing any small portion of their main audiance to Classic Oldies, although they do have the 70's on their 2 for competition in house.

The 70's channel (which does have a pretty wide selection, btw; I've heard the channel online, of course, and not through HD radio) is only serving out its main purpose to buy time for about ten months until WOGL goes all-Christmas again in November.

With WPHT on WOGL-HD4 also, shouldn't they be IDing it, WPHT, WPHT HD, WOGL HD-3 & WOGL HD-4? Is CBS going to put HEAR Philly Radio on WOGL HD-4?

I don't hear any stereo on WOGL-HD3 (or 4) and the sound is about as good as it's ever been. The RDS is active, though. Now they need to either fill in the blank template fields (show name/sponsor name) or get rid of them. No RDS on the HD-4 so one can assume the PHT simulcast is only engineering testing. Don't know whether that requires a legal ID or not.

On a casual listen, the WPHT HD sound quality is better (and in stereo) than the HD3, but put on a set of headphones, and the AM HD has all kinds of audible artifacts swirling around. Less so with the HD3. And over the last month, the AM HD pops out regularly during Limbaugh, sending me to the HD3. And I'm only 15 miles from the AM transmitter. I'm not sure whether its atmospheric variations with Spring coming or in-house interference. The signal sounds clean, but I just placed a web radio tuner close to the HD radio tuner, so there may be some interference.

The WOGL-HD2 70s format goes deeper than WOGL's standard format, kind of like WMGK-HD2's Deep Tracks vs its main format.
