WOGL HD2 Signal Useless

I know I am probably one of 5 people with an HD radio but AM HD must go and WOGL HD2 is useless in Bucks and Montgomery County. WBEB, WYSP and most others come in great but going up Horsham or County line roads you are lucky to lock in on the signal 50% of the time.

Does anyone know (or care) why?

Once upon a time, broadcasters and the FCC adopted the wrong technical standards. And by the time the industry standards fight was over, the whole thing was obsolete. So they adopted it anyway. And now it's an albatross.

In 2010 There Will Be A power Increase From 1DB To 6DB For HD Siginal Plus Also 4 Side Channels (Up To Local
Station To Put 4 Channels) :)

In South Philly:

Worst HD-2 signals-RTI/XTU/PEN/OGL

Good HD-2 signals-XPN/HYY/YSP/BEN/RDW/USL/IOQ/RFF/DAS/ISX

Best HD-2 sigals-MMR/BEB/MGK

This is the same over the bridge in Camden and Gloucester counties...and its very frustrating...

Correction: All IBOC broadcasting (aka "HD Radio") must go.

Nothing but interference from end-to-end of the dial on both AM & FM and the two people who were foolish enough to buy an "HD Radio" can't even get decent reception standing atop the broadcast tower.

As mentioned before, the proposed power increase for HD will make VERY little (if any) change in what you have now, but the interference will certainly get worse (or worser!). HD radio needs to go away, I'll stick with the internet, thank you.

WOGL's digital signal is transmitted from an aux antenna mounted on the south side of a 12 ft wide tower, so there is indeed a significant reduction of HD coverage to the north. However, the analog signal is transmitted from the ERI master antenna, which is not only mounted higher, but wraps around all sides of the tower for a more uniform pattern.

As I understand it, WOGL was given the option of feeding the digital transmitter to the master antenna, but this would increase the station's monthly rent paid to American Tower, the landlord. The GM, who apparently realizes HD isn't going anywhere, doesn't want to spend the money. There's simply no return.

Technical arguing aside, XPN does a great job with Y-Rock and I believe that's an example of HD done right. There are listeners and loyal fans of that channel who do listen on HD radio in Philly.

Yes, but 99.99999 percent of them are listening to the web stream And with city-wide wi-fi, you can add a few more 9's to the right of that decimal point.
