WBGP? Nope, already in use in Georgia.I wonder if they are gonna change the call letters ?
But changing the name isn’t going to change that perception. That’s because 25 year olds think of WOGL as their grandparents station and 54 year olds still think it’s Oldies 98 and Dion & The Belmonts are coming up after the break with “Runaround Sue.”
They still except the Pink Cadillac to come rolling down the street at any given moment.
Yep, and in Buckeye and its suburbs (Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, Glendale) the high end older demos went off to WOW! leaving KOOL-FM with nothing.Audacy’s classic hits station in Phoenix just hit a PPM era low. Pretty sure to say it’s safe to believe they’re watching what happens with WOGL to see if anything can be done to save that station.
The problem is, WOGL had listeners, just not the ones they (or the advertisers) wanted. In Phoenix, everyone seems to have forgotten 94.5 is a local frequency.
Which shows KOOL-FM obviously has an older leaning audience as well. However, we see how well CBS-FM does (with almost an older leaning playlist) in important demos as well as overall in NYC. Also, KOOL never really used “oldies” as part of its main brand like WOGL.Yep, and in Buckeye and its suburbs (Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, Glendale) the high end older demos went off to WOW! leaving KOOL-FM with nothing.
No, it's not. Advertisers look at 25-54 and that is where KOOL-FM has collapsed. KOOL neither targets not wants the 55 and over segment.Guess it really is the WOW factor…
Ah yes, I wasn’t thinking enough to realize they’ve got to be dropping across the board in most if not all demos to have collapsed like that. Duh. Audacy is going to have to do something there..,the music mix of KOOL isn’t really different from their average classic hits playlist (somewhere between the old WOGL and BIG WOGL), or maybe they’ve lost touch with the market. I could see perhaps a BIG or KRTH style approach being more successful there. No, it's not. Advertisers look at 25-54 and that is where KOOL-FM has collapsed. Back in July and August, KOOL-FM was 2nd in 25-54. By November, they were 18th and now are 16th. KOAI (The WOW Factor) is 26th in 25-54, so it is not the cause of KOOL's decline.
And KOOL is in the same range in 55+ that it was a year ago. It did not program for 55 and over, and had few listeners in that demo. It's issues are pure 35-54 and not related to The WOW! Factor.
The power rotations on KOOL-FM are as tight as they are on KRTH and WOGL, so perhaps going in the opposite direction would be the way to go for them. KLUV also has similar rotations and was struggling, but had a nice rise in April in 6+ (presumably in key demos as well), so it will be interesting to see if they can keep trending up and return to the top 5 in 25-54. Even with Adult Hits KJKK as a sister station, they probably need to play a bit more 1990s like KRTH (which is able to successfully co-exist with KCBS-FM) in order to achiever better demos. KOOL-FM, though, I'm not sure what happened to it or how Audacy could fix it.Ah yes, I wasn’t thinking enough to realize they’ve got to be dropping across the board in most if not all demos to have collapsed like that. Way too early to know that. But doing nothing was certainly not the right approach. But changing the name isn’t going to change that perception.
Yes, please change the call letters! Get rid of the association with WOGL. Perhaps change them to W251XXI wonder if they are gonna change the call letters ?
It could be something so obtuse and "internal" as not having the right horizontal and vertical rotation rules in the scheduling software. In a case like that, a typical routine listener hears some songs way to often and never hears others....the music mix of KOOL isn’t really different from their average classic hits playlist (somewhere between the old WOGL and BIG WOGL)...
NO THAT'S NOT A GOOD ENOUGH CALL SIGN THEY ARE NOT A TRANSLATOR how about WPHPYes, please change the call letters! Get rid of the association with WOGL. Perhaps change them to W251XX

Yes. But they are doing changes to protect its future as their average age was getting way too old.is wogl still a big billing station for Audacy Philadelphia
And that can be an issue. i think WCBS-FM and KEARTH both still do well in 25-54Yes. But they are doing changes to protect its future as their average age was getting way too old.
I checked and it is died for 4th in market billing. But in 25-54 it is no longer in the Top 10, so they had to do something to protect the revenue.is wogl still a big billing station for Audacy Philadelphia
