WOGL stream vs the over the air station

Does anybody know why the online stream for WOGL on Sunday mornings differs from the over the air station? For example this morning about 11 AM the online stream was feturing a specialty show while the web site says there is a Beatles show on. A radio friend in Philadelphia confirmed that the Beatles were over the air but not on the online stream. Likewise I could not hear the Elvis and Friends show for the last two weeks.

Thanks

Bruce

Some syndicated shows may not be allowed to stream. I used to board op at a station that used to run NCAA Basketball from Westwood One. The GM used to have to kill the station's stream while the games were on.

I am answering my own question. I should have thought of this before I posted.

The Digital Millenium Copyright Act limits the number of songs an Internet Radio station can play in a hour by the same artist. Thus since the Elvis and Beatles shows are devoted to one artist, they can't be played on Internet radio but can be played on an over the air station.

Is it possible that the reason that these 2 programs cannot be streamed is because of Internet restrictions restricting how many times an artist can be played in a certain time period?

Anyway, it would be nice if the WOGL website could say something about why these 2 progams are not being streamed.

WOGL doesn't run any syndicated shows, all the specialty shows are their own. They used to run Dick Clark's Rock, Roll & Remember but dropped it last year.

Music licensing rights is the answer. Many stations streamed in the late 90s but the RIAA's greed to extract more money from radio Stations led to most Stations pulling the plug on streaming at that time. Because the record industry let their business get away from them by not embracing the new technologies that came about, downloading music and burning/compiling thier own selections changed the way the recorded music industry did business. They reacted by tightening the screws on the one industry that kept their product before the publis, introducing new releases and giving life support to their old ones. commercial radio. Without the RIAA's misdirected frustration, radio would have been 5 to 6 years ahead in the streaming on-air product it now is developing.Radio already pays them hefty fees, simply letting radio develop revenue through increased product distribution via the stream, their fees would have increased. but their ' biting the hand that feeds them' greed slowed it down for years and years.

That's a strange rule. What is it supposed to achieve? What's the advantage of that rule to anybody?
