WOGL's HD2 Channel Now Airing Commercials

Actually, they're PSA's - usually in three-minute sets. The bottom line is, they're taking breaks from the music, rather than playing the music non-stop. Isn't that one of the main reason that the twelve people who purchased an HD radio did so in the first place? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of buying into the whole HD Radio concept? Wasn't that one of the big benefits of HD Radio?

(Of course, I listen to the station via their Internet stream.)

Buying an HD radio has nothing to do with no commercials, or at least it shouldn't. Its for more program options and the theory that the music sounds better. No commercials = no money for programming.

Um, yeah. Of course they are. They're simulcasts of AM stations.

On a more relevant note, I've heard commercials on non-simulcast HD stations from other markets for quite a while, including the "WNEW" that used to be at 102.7 HD-2 in New York.

The station probably increased the spot price to include spots on the HD2 as well, or just throw in the HD2 spots free to sweeten the deal. Advertisers don't know that they're paying more for 3 additional people to hear their ads.

I have HD and think its great, I can take it anywhere, my satelite service is not portable, BUT BUT BUT they have to do something with the power and reception...how can they make money when you cannot hear them....it is really frustrating not to pick up the HD-2's except outdoors or near windows no more than 20 miles from the X-mtr. My favs are WRFF-HD-2, WSTW-HD-2, the B and XPN's HD-2's in the apple 92.3-HD-2, 104.3-HD-2, 102.7 and PLJ's HD-2 if not for HD the NYC dial would really stink for any form of rock except for 101.9 which is pretty good...so HD has to survive and not fail...for the sake of non-urbanic formats which jam the dial all over the USA.
