WOGT drops Nash Icon

I know Chattanooga doesn't get enough love on here, but I thought I'd start a thread for this one. It appears that after stunting with Christmas music for the past few months, WOGT did not return to the Nash Icon brand (No surprise). Instead they have went in a mainstream country direction as Country 107.9 aimed directly at US 101. I know this has been done in the past, but they are giving it another go.

I was able to listen online for a bit today. It is more of a new country approach, which makes sense. Couple of things, here.

1.) WOGT has a limited signal. Then again 100kw signal is limited in Chattanooga, so it can only make a certain attempt at the competition.

2.) 10A-2P is none other than Mr. Chattanooga radio, Scott Chase. Which brings me to another comment that should be a completely different thread. Scott has been on the air at KZ-106 for 36 years and roughly 12 days. I find him to be quite interesting and seems like the kind of guy you would want as a neighbor. That is a good approach for radio in 2021 vs.
the obvious canned VT sound, especially for Chattanooga. They run a no frills game at Cumulus in Chattanooga. Tell me
what you know about Scott or thoughts on their radio stations. KZ-106 in particular.

Nooooooooooo

Nash Icon just hasn't worked in very many places. Unless Cumulus Chattanooga is going to put some time, effort and money(yes, get some live jocks and do some local promotions) then doing another version of country is going to do very little in generating ratings or revenue. They are better off doing something completely different. They have a classic rocker and two talk stations, so the male audience is covered. I they want to target females with WOGT, they should try a Hot AC or Rhythmic CHR format.
