WOHS Announcer Becomes Ill -- Asks Listeners for Help then Collapses

He is lucky! But you also must wonder why someone with such health problems would not have his meds close by. I know several people who have similar conditions and thy carry their meds with them at all times.

I do know on diabetic who forgets to take his shots and doesn't watch his diet. The game is called Russian Roulette.

Our thoughts are prayers are with Tim Biggerstaff. I have done the board-op for him during the high school ballgames on WLON (Lincolnton) over this past school year. He's a great guy.

I remember one time Clyde McLean (who was out sick a lot) was doing the weather on WBTV and then he started acting strange, writing on the wall really fast (back before technology let the "wall" be a computer image), and he said we needed to go to the news. Then the next thing we saw was someone already doing the news. It turned out he had kidney stones. That poor man gave us his full effort, but so often he couldn't be with us. One day he finally had to retire.

I've known Tim for many, many years. He is the man who gave me the "Muffin" nickname that I proudly use on the air at both WLON-AM and WSCL-AM.

There's no explanation for why his "meds" weren't nearby except to say he was feeling fine before his seizure. When he worked in Lincolnton, he always kept his cell phones and medications nearby. And unlike Shelby, there are people in the building regularly in Lincolnton.

Tim and I have maintained a great friendship over the years, keeping tabs on each other's health. With what he's been through -- two pancreas transplants; a kidney transplant; diabetes; a heart attack; and stroke -- he's a remarkable guy who's smart, funny....and the cornerstone of greater Charlotte radio.

We're praying for you, Tim...and Godspeed.

Oh man.. Its been several years but I worked with him back in 1996-1997 when it was the Piedmont Superstations Radio Network.

He is VERY Lucky, and Kudos to the listener coming to his aid!

Our thoughts and prayers are with Tim and his family.
