WOIO/WUAB GM - OUT Leaves Behind A Mess

The WOIO staff is waiting for any new building announcement while dealing with water leaks from the ceilings, car break ins and even car theft in one case, pests, building windows getting shot out, homeless people having sex in our stairwell, elevator break downs, and so much more.

WOIO and WUAB both appear to be a mess. Not good they are soon going to be run by yet another GM soon. Then again, they have gone through a lot of GMs since Bill Applegate retired in 2014. Since then, they have gone through four, soon to be five.

Meanwhile, there have been a lot of staff turnover on and off-air. I think Gray should look into selling the two stations.

It seems as if Gray cares more about their Atlanta stations than 19/43/ROCK/Telemundo Cleveland.

I do hope their next GM will actually stick around for a while, whoever that will be.

Atlanta is where Gray's headquarters are at (they were based in Albany GA from the dawn of the 20th century until merging into Raycom). They also built a studio lot in the ATL.

WOIO/WUAB/WTCL-LD now has another problem on their hands. Reserve Square, where their studios are located, is now in foreclosure.

Honestly? It wouldn't surprise me if Gray tries to move into a larger/higher-profile part of Reserve Square because of this.

I have done some 1099 work for property developers, so I know enough about commercial real estate to state that "all things are subject to "local" conditions". That being said, I can say anywhere that is not experiencing large population grow should have some economical retail space with a well lite parking lot. A "motivated" landlord will allow part of the parking lot to fenced in.

As for criminal activity I am sure there are off duty police that could use the extra $$$.* It's just a matter of thinking about you employees and your equipment's safety.

* The local PIO who your reporters should know on a first name bases, should be able to tell you how to obtain such services easily.

I still think Gray Media is eyeing the current WJW building on S. Marginal -- hoping the Tegna/Nexstar deal goes through soon and Channel 8 moves down to Lakeside in short order to share space with Channel 3.

Doesn't help the current employees of 19/43 though.
