WOKK PUTS BUTT KICKING ON MISS 101(Meridian)

WHEW, what a booty kicker on miss 103.OKK doubled their 12 plus numbers alone.(score 12 to 6)Good job 97.1.URBAN properties including JDQ basically sucking.

Lessons learned: When you sound like every other Clear Channel and Cumulus station out there, you will lose. When you're local, have an entertaining morning show, you're local, have a good playlist and you're local (did I mention being local?) then chances are you will do better and maybe even outright win. Most people who listen to local radio want to hear local elements tailored to their city, not just a bunch of "what did Britney" type junk pulled off the net. The sooner owners and programmers learn this, the better off radio will be and the better chance they will have in the future.

I love Rick and Bubba's (I realize they're not local but it's a REAL morning show)'s "disclaimer": "Warning: This show may be offensive to pencil pushing, research loving, bean counting program directors and radio consultant goobs." Pretty much sums up corporate radio.

I can't imagine how anyone knows who beat who unless Oldie works in the Urban building. The only numbers released were Urban and two other random stations. So where did the info come from?

I don't understand bragging about a 12 share in #300.
WIVK pulls 22s in #71..Knoxville.

oldiestation:

"Ratings Truth Time" The Fall numbers are embargoed. Only the 12+ numbers for the URBan cluster and 2 stations from Laurel were released. The WOKK number you speak of is actually the number for WZKS. It was incorrectly reported on R & R's website. Again no numbers were released for any other cluster or station including WJXM. Any other report is inaccurate.

Where are you getting the numbers? I want to see what Q did. Do you know if they finally came out of the slump.

If the 12+ numbers on R&R are any indication (and I know that 12+ doesn't tell the whole story) then no. In fact, the new format seems to have had no effect whatsoever on the stick. Real shame. It all goes back to the "local" thing I mentioned earlier. Almost every time I've heard Q (or any other URB station), they've all been talking about some mess they pulled off the Net. You can't do only that and expect to win. As I said, the sooner owners learn this then maybe they'll improve.

Thats why it is so shocking that they would get whooped by OKK.
