WOLD-LP this evening...

I live in Trenton, NJ and for the first time I am receiving WOLD-LP from Edison, NJ. Loud and clear as if it's broadcasting from my back yard. I don't see any tropo on the maps. How am I receiving a low power fm all the way over here at my location?

There's is no way you would be hearing the Edison station in Trenton, you are more than likely catching their translator station from East Windsor on 107.9FM which is far closer to your location. They brand as WOLD but have 2 offerings on 107.9... There does seem to be some tropo tonight but nothing nearly as strong as the last few nights where WLZL has been blasting through New Jersey from College Park, MD.

Ah, okay. I forgot they have a translator now. I knew there was zero way to receive that from my location. WBCB 1490am in Levittown now has one as well on 107.3.

About 30 miles by air is not unheard of for an LPFM during tropo or enhanced reception conditions. I've heard a 50 watt translator at below average terrain, in a valley.. when i was up on a tall hill a few times in a year in NW PA

WOLD-LP is currently off the air due to flooding in Manville where its studio is located. 107.9 and 103.3-HD3 are transmitting dead air, and the 95.1 translator in Edison appears to be off the air entirely, as instead I'm getting The Bridge's translator W236CH from the NYC area.

As posted on their Facebook page: "The remnants of Hurricane Ida slammed through the northeast Wednesday night into Thursday morning. The studios of 107.9, 95.1 and 103.3 HD 3… totally under flood waters. We hope to return to broadcasting as soon as possible. WOLD New Jersey, New York City and Philadelphia will be off the air until further notice. Thanks for understanding."

WOLD-LP's 95.1 translator is back on the air, but their 107.9 signal (which had been simulcasting WPRB for a few days) is still dead air, and WPRB-HD3 has disappeared.

On their web site they wrote: "UPDATE: WOLD has resumed broadcasting, both On-Air and Online. Some of your favorite talent or programs may not yet be available as we continue to rebuild as a result of severe flood damage at our broadcast studios from Hurricane Ida. We're working around the clock to resume normal operations, which could still take some time. We sincerely thank you for your patience and the warm uplifting messages you’ve sent to us. We have read every single one!"
